To honour the start of the summer holidays, we’re sharing the extraordinary story of how our SuperFruit Freezies came to be!
Where it all began
First, let’s start with a history lesson on the invention of the Popsicle! In 1905 (yes, way back then!), little 11-year-old Frank Epperson accidentally created a frozen sugar treat at his San Francisco Bay home. He began selling these ice treats to neighbours, dubbing it the Epsicle. Clever right?!
In 1923-1924, Epperson began expanding his sales and even applied for a patent for the sweet treat on a wooden stick. From then on, the Epsicle became known by several different names, including ice pop, Pop’s’Sicle and eventually popsicle.
Our SuperFruit Freezie: an origin story
DeeBees Organics was created by Dr. Dionne Laslo-Baker (and her kids) in the kitchen of their home one very typical afternoon. On this afternoon, one of Dr. Dionne’s kids was making tea, and the other was making popsicles. When the inevitable argument broke out between them about who Mommy was to help, the idea of “Teasicles” was born. From there, Teasicles evolved into the always organic, real fruit SuperFruit Freezies we know today. Our Freezies are shelf-stable, never artificial, and made with clean, real food ingredients that you will feel great about! Our Flavours
Over the years, our SuperFruit Freezies have evolved into the wide range of flavours we have today. From flavour failures to unexpected surprises, our SuperFruit Freezies have evolved from homemade Teascicles to a brand built on the idea of “treats” made with real organic fruit and clean ingredients.
In our first round of SuperFruit Freezies, we focused on three primary flavours: Grape, Strawberry and Tropical. Now, we offer two versions of our SuperFruit Freezies and a range of unique flavour combinations you simply can not get anywhere else. Our Classic flavour includes Strawberry Lemon, Blueberry Pomegranate, and Mango Orange, while our new Tropical flavours are Peach Passionfruit, Pineapple Coconut, and Raspberry Lime. Yum!
With Dr. Dionne’s background in science and research, our flavours are not only a sweet treat for summer but a step forward in providing families with clean-label, organic foods that your kids will actually want to eat!
