Giving Tuesday: Fostering inclusivity and Radical Generosity at DeeBee’s

Have you ever heard of the term ‘radical generosity’?

We sure have! This year, Giving Tuesday is all about the idea of radical generosity: recognizing that the person receiving today can also be giving tomorrow. Keep reading to explore what we’re learning about this Giving Tuesday, and how you can become part of this movement for kindness too.

What is Giving Tuesday?

Celebrated on November 28th every year, Giving Tuesday spawns from the simple idea to encourage more people to do good for each other. First established in 2012, Giving Tuesday is the world’s largest generosity movement with millions of dollars and hours given to transform communities for the better. To us, the most beautiful part of Giving Tuesday is the aspect that anyone can get involved to bring smiles to faces: children, grandparents, schools, local community groups, and even businesses.

Each year, Giving Tuesday becomes more important as a means to fight inequality around the world. Kindness relieves suffering, and it can be humbling to realize not only the amount of suffering that still remains in the world, but also the amount of kindness we each have to give.

Giving Tuesday at DeeBee's Organics

Acts of kindness not only go a long way on November 28th, but every day of the year! Did you know that our DeeBee’s brand pillars (Health, Inclusivity, and Joy) actually reinforce this idea of wellbeing for all? To observe Giving Tuesday this year, we at DeeBee’s decided to foster our Inclusivity brand pillar even further. To do this, we all attended an incredible DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) workshop hosted by the Get REAL Movement. Founded in 2011, Get REAL is a Canadian non-profit organization committed to combating discrimination in all forms.

In this DEI workshop, we learnt the realities of the discrimination still exists in our societies, and heard the stories of incredible Get REAL speakers Wren Bond and Courtney Allain

Reflecting on all that we learnt, the workshop provided us with the opportunity to explore the realities of micro-aggression, homophobia, transphobia, and racism faced by humans as deserving of the same love we hope to have. It also provided us with a valuable perspective on how needed inclusivity and radical generosity is in our communities. Walking away from this workshop, each team member came away with valuable, tangible takeaways on making our DeeBee’s workplace (and the Earth!) safer, happier, and more accessible for everyone—no matter their race, sexual orientation, gender, or background.

This Giving Tuesday, we are humbled to be also able to donate to this powerful organization that believes in the same colorful world that we do. If you are financially able to donate this season, we would love to invite you to join us in supporting the Get REAL Movement.
